Three of nine area school districts face loss of state aid during 2021-22
Gov. Phil Murphy has unveiled his Fiscal Year 2022 budget, which includes proposed funding for New Jersey’s public school districts during the 2021-22 academic year.
In terms of state aid, some school districts have come out winners and will see an increase in their support from Trenton, while some school districts have come out losers and will see their state aid continue to decrease.
The amount of state aid a school district receives helps to determine the amount of taxes a school board must raise from a municipality’s residential and commercial property owners to support the operation of a school district in an academic year.

NEW BEDFORD Thursday s Department of Public Health report on the latest local COVID data had another Greater New Bedford community break out of the state s COVID red or high-risk designation, as rates of virus spread continue trending downward.
Acushnet is now deemed a yellow or moderate risk community for COVID spread, according to the latest state report.
Last week s report saw Westport slashing its daily incidence rate nearly in half and moving into yellow. Mattapoisett moving into green. The only safer category according to the Massachusetts Department of Health s ranking system is white, indicating less than five reported cases per 100,000 people.
The seaside town of Fairhaven, like similar towns, has lots of wildlife. But only Fairhaven has Terry Cripps.
Terry Cripps is the Fairhaven Animal Control officer. He is an advocate for animals, domestic and wild. Before he was in his current position, he was a corrections officer. Cripps is acquainted with the kind of people who abuse the vulnerable. He is quick-witted and a pleasure to be around, but he is an equally serious man who isn’t going to let animal abusers get away with their crimes.
He recently joined me on my radio show to discuss a hawk attacking a cat. Officer Cripps wanted to remind people that hawks and other wild animals are aggressively seeking food sources and people need to keep their domestic animals indoors. The hawk was doing what a hawk does, as jarring as it is to pet owners.
Big Sky Country State Fair Announce Concert Lineup
